WRITING CAREER

Marcos closed all major media with martial law so I couldn't get a writing job after college. I turned to the travel industry and spent 30 years to raise a family. My own travel company went kaput after two kids finished college. Now God leads me to the well as an entry level writer with Belcher.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

My eldest son will be fully engrossed with J.P.Morgan Chase. My only daughter is busy with her corporate lecturer career at Guthrie-Jensen. She plans to marry the father of her love child by 2009. My youngest son will graduate college that same year and will depart for the U.S. for the first time in his life, kind of odd for an American citizen. Mona wants to spend six months in LA with him and her sister and the rest of the six months with me in the Philippines every year for the rest of her life. Wow, what am I to do with another six months when she is away in LA. Wow, the prospects are tremendous. Who says getting old could not be fun at all? He he! Any takers?

FREEDOM RING

I always told my youngest son, who’s an American citizen but who will visit there for the first time in his life after graduating college next year about the greatness of America.Freedom is the fountain of all virtue and the wellspring for great strides in knowledge and discovery. It will propel man to leave this planet. In a land, where brother turned against brother in a conflict about the timing and the manner of how that freedom should be granted, no one in all history has paid a dearer price.

YANK GOES HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME

My youngest son is a Yank. Born in Brooklyn, I towed him in a bassinet back to Manila barely 12 months old. In a year’s time he will graduate college and set foot for the first time on American soil. I have always reminded him that he comes from the greatest country in the world. Why, he asks. I didn’t spend a penny to have you, I replied. All I did was make love to your Mom. Blue Shield took it from there and picked up the tab from the prenatal, hospitalization and delivery, and up to pediatric care.
