My only daughter graduated with honors at the Ateneo with a Communications degree. She swore she’d be a movie star and stage actress and never take an 8-hour desk job. She bagged lead roles in theater and indie films for five years, which paid little. Then she got pregnant with a lovechild and declared she was not getting married until she could afford a place of her own. It’s 2008 and that dream is still out of reach. She finally gave up the show biz career to settle for a lecturer’s job with Guthrie-Jensen. Luckily, she got credit for playing lead roles as equivalent to a three years management experience. Now she is treading a mainstream business career in Ayala-Makati without a setback. Things are looking rosy, as her beau is busy tending his own trading business with a modicum of success. I pray to God a marriage is in the offing maybe next year.
